Robbie Keane ruled out of England and Georgia games

The Boys in Green captain will not link up with his Irish teammates for the opening two friendlies of the international period due to club commitments with LA Galaxy.
Los Angeles Galaxy forward Robbie Keane has been ruled out of the upcoming Republic of Ireland friendlies with England and Georgia after his club decided to retain him for its MLS campaign.

The fixtures with England and Georgia both fall outside the international calendar, which means that clubs are not required to release their players under FIFA rules.

However, Keane will join up with Giovanni Trapattoni's squad for the World Cup Qualifier against the Faroe Islands on June 7 and may also be available for the friendly encounter with Spain at Yankee Stadium in New York four days later.

Trapattoni must now decide whether to replace Ireland's all-time top goalscorer in his squad, after already losing Norwich City midfielder Anthony Pilkington to injury.
