Del Bosque: Spain dispelled doubts in France victory

La Roja's coach was pleased that his team managed to prove some of its doubters wrong with a confident performance against Didier Deschamp's side at Stade de France.
Spain boss Vicente del Bosque believes his side proved its doubters wrong by beating France 1-0 in their World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.

The reigning world champion produced an accomplished display in Paris to seal all three points, as Pedro scored the game's only goal in the 58th minute. Del Bosque praised his team following the win that took La Roja back to the top of Group I, with three games left to play.

"People always have doubts. So this result is important," Del Bosque told AS after the final whistle. "We showed conviction to stick to our style.

"We played very well. We were a bit messy when they had 10 men but everyone played very well."

The Spain coach singled out Alvaro Arbeloa for particular praise, after he kept Franck Ribery quiet for much of the game.

"Arbeloa was fantastic up against Ribery," Del Bosque said

Spain now sits one point ahead of France in Group I. The next set of World Cup qualification matches resumes in September.
