Laudrup honored after being named 'most impressive' Premier League manager

The 48-year-old picked up the accolade voted for by his fellow top-flight managers, while Swansea forward Michu beat Robin van Persie to best signing of the season.

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has expressed his delight at the "honor" of being recognized as the Premier League's most impressive manager this season.

In a survey conducted by the League Managers Association (LMA) for Premier League sponsor Barclays, the Dane and his top-flight counterparts voted on a range of topics from managers to new arrivals and improving youngsters.

Following Laudrup - who signed a one-year contract extension on Friday - guiding the Swans to a first-ever major honor with their Capital One Cup triumph in February to boast alongside a comfortable top-10 placing in the league, the 48-year-old has been recognized by his fellow professionals with 46 percent of the vote.

"It's always an honor to receive recognition, but I always consider them more important when they come from your colleagues," Laudrup told the club's official website. "I felt the same as a player and that hasn’t changed now that I'm a manager. It's something special coming from your colleagues because they are the ones you are competing with on a weekly basis on and off the pitch."

Elsewhere, Swansea forward Michu was named as the best signing of the season, beating Manchester United striker Robin van Persie with 47 percent of the vote after notching 15 goals in 27 league outings following a 2 million pound summer switch from Rayo Vallecano.
