Miranda: Falcao should be in the running for Ballon d'Or

The Brazilian defender feels his teammate is on a par with the Argentina international, and thinks he should make the shortlist for the individual award.
Atletico Madrid defender Miranda believes Radamel Falcao and Barcelona star Lionel Messi are the two best players in the world, adding that the Colombia international deserves to be one of the candidates to win the FIFA Ballon d'Or following his good performances.

Falcao has already netted 13 goals in nine official appearances for Atletico this term, and Miranda feels his teammate deserves recognition for his impressive goalscoring record.

"To me, Messi and Falcao are the best around. Radamel keeps on scoring in every game, so I think he should be considered for the Ballon d'Or," Miranda was quoted as saying by Marca.

Messi has won the prestigious award for three years running, ahead of the likes of Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo and Spain midfielder Xavi who were runners-up last season.

The shortlist for the FIFA Ballon d'Or will be revealed later on Monday.
