The 45-year-old coach admitted his team had to change its style of play because of the bad weather, but was proud of the effort in difficult circumstances.
The former Mainz coach conceded his team could not play in its usual style because of the bad weather and said he made the decision to operate in a more direct fashion.
"We could not go out in this weather and play good football because nature has not allowed it," Klopp told reporters after the match. "We came here originally to play good passing football, but it was not possible in this weather, so we had to change our style and use long balls."
The Dortmund boss also felt it was a personal test of character for every member of his team to secure the win and he was delighted that they came through it unharmed.
"Today was a real test of character for the team and they passed it, and for that I am really proud of them," he added.
