After blowing a two-goal lead against the Giallorossi on Sunday, the Rossoblu officials have announced that the club has parted ways with the 55-year-old trainer.
Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has revealed that the club has fired coach Luigi De Canio, following a 4-2 home loss against Roma at the weekend. The match saw the Ligurian side take a 2-0 lead by the 15 minute mark, but the men from the Italian capital were then able to turn the match in their favor, eventually winning 4-2.
The Gli Salami officials have already named former Juventus coach Luigi Delneri as the new replacement.
"At this time it was right to change. I immediately hired Delneri because I was afraid he was going to go somewhere else. Reinforcements will arrive in January," 64-year-old Preziosi told ANSA.
The Griffin currently sit ninth in Serie A.
