Ibrahimovic: Paris Saint-Germain has work to do to reach Barcelona's level

The towering attacker has stressed that the Ligue 1 side needs to gel before being able to compete with the big guns in Europe, and specifically his former club.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has stressed that Paris Saint-Germain has a bright future ahead of it, but admitted that the club must be given time in order to match teams such as Barcelona.

The Sweden international is one of the high-profile names to have joined PSG this summer, alongside Ezequiel Lavezzi and Thiago Silva, and he has little doubt that the Ligue 1 side can challenge for top honors in the long term.

"PSG can't be compared with Barcelona. We still have a lot of work to do to become like them. We are a team with a lot of new faces and are still under construction," Ibrahimovic stated to reporters. "We are a new team with a project that's being put in place. Like I've said before, PSG are the future.

"For now, we're taking our time to get used to each other, because we have a lot of new players. I hope that it won't take too long, though."

PSG is currently preparing for the friendly versus Juventus on July 31, before taking on Barcelona on Aug. 4.
