The 53-year-old tactician was pleased with his current club after it played out a draw against his former employer, which lifted the Champions League in May.
Les Parisiens went a goal up midway through the first half as Nene tapped in from close range, before a late Lucas Piazon strike handed the Champions League winner a draw.
But the Italian coach was pleased with his side's efforts, and was particularly impressed by the pace at which the game was played.
"It was a good, intense game," he told Eurosport. "It was a very good test against a very strong team. We controlled the game well.
"This game gives us the experience of playing against a top European team, and that is the level we want to get to."
The French side will play Kansas City and D.C. United as it continues its American tour, before facing off against Juventus and Barcelona in August.
