Report: Danny Welbeck set to sign new five-year deal at Manchester United within two weeks
The striker scored the winner at Arsenal on Sunday, and is now set to accept a long-term 42,000 pounds-a-week contract at Old Trafford with an improved bonus structure
Danny Welbeck is expected to sign a new five-year deal with Manchester United within the next two weeks, boosting the 21-year-old’s earnings to 42,000 pounds a week, according to The Sun.
The player, who spent last season on loan with Sunderland, has been a key man for Sir Alex Ferguson this campaign, and United are looking to tie down the youngster for the long-term at Old Trafford.
Scoring the winner in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Arsenal will no doubt have improved Welbeck's stance in negotiations, with the Red Devils understood to have already offered the forward a lower wage packet accompanied with several bonuses.
Recent reports had suggested that the player was stalling on the initial deal proposed by the club, as he looked to secure a higher pay day.
However, the offer has apparently been tweaked within the last week and the attacker is now set to pick up a salary of around 37,000 pounds a week before add-ons, with the previous sum 10,000 pounds less without bonuses.
