The Spaniard’s flying volley earned him an assist for Frank Lampard’s winner, and although the goals are not yet flowing, he’s encouraged by being able to help the team

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres says he hopes a return to scoring form is just around the corner after an impressive display in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Sunderland.

"As a striker I'm always trying to score and I always want to score," Torres told reporters. "I'm hoping now I can find my best form again."

Torres looked lively and dangerous throughout against the Black Cats, and was unlucky to see a flying volley crash back off the crossbar in the buildup to Frank Lampard’s winning goal.

Fortune may not yet be back on his side, but after the match the Spaniard revealed he is taking confidence from helping the team in any way he can, and believes the goals will soon come if he maintains his current level of performance.

“It's been a different style here for me to adapt to and I've been giving assists for my teammates, which has helped us towards winning games," Torres explained.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas also revealed he has been pleased with his Torres’ recent performances, and has no doubt his star man’s scoring touch will return soon.

“He's willing to change his own fortune, and the goals will come," the Blues boss stated.

"He's improving in form, confidence, he's looking better and creating danger. A goal may make a difference on a personal, inspiration level."
