Marco Borriello disappointed by derogatory banner but determined to prove himself to Juventus fans
The Bianconeri faithful called the character of their new loan signing from Roma into question during Sunday's win at Lecce but the forward is confident of winning them over

Marco Borriello admitted that he was saddened by the hostile reaction of Juventus fans to his arrival in Turin but claims that he is now only even more determined to prove himself to the Bianconeri faithful.
A banner was unveiled during Sunday’s win at Lecce which read, 'Borriello: a mercenary without honour and dignity', which was an apparent reference to the player’s reported rejection of Juve in favour of a move to Roma in August 2010.
The forward, who has been signed on loan until the end of the season, confessed that he was disheartened by the public show of disapproval but insisted that it had not detracted from his joy at joining Antonio Conte’s side.
"I am happy to be here and honoured to have this opportunity,” Borriello said to the Italian press after being officially unveiled as a Juventus player on Tuesday.
“I do not deny that I was disappointed by the banner displayed on Sunday but I have great respect for the fans of Juventus. In my life I have always behaved honestly and with dignity, in the field and in life.
“The banner was created by the ill-informed. I have never refused Juventus and do not want to talk more about this controversy.”
Borriello also resisted the opportunity to take a shot at Roma coach Luis Enrique, who relegated the striker to the bench for the majority of the first half of the season.
“I didn’t have much luck with the boss but he’s a very good coach with a great idea of how to play the game,” he admitted. “I wish the best to both him and my team-mates.”
Borriello would instead like to focus his energy on persuading Juve to make his loan deal permanent in the summer.
"I want to show what I can do,” he said. “There is so much competition [for places], but the important thing is that we all do well for the good of Juventus.
“I’m feeling good and today or tomorrow I will join up with the rest of the squad. I have always sought to improve: from Genoa to Milan, then to Roma and now at Juve: My career has always been rising.”
Borriello failed to score in seven appearances in Serie A for Roma this season.
