Serie A outfit Palermo has confirmed on its official website that it has given coach Devis Mangia the axe in the wake of the 2-0 Serie A loss to regional rival Catania on Sunday afternoon.
The 37-year-old Mangia was appointed Palermo coach at the start of the season, but he was unable to guide the Sicilians to success in the first half of the campaign.
Palermo currently sits 10th in the Serie A table with 20 points from 15 games and the team was eliminated from the Coppa Italia by Siena earlier this month.
It's not yet known who will replace Mangia as the new coach, but a number of reports from Italy suggest that Bortolo Mutti is sitting in pole position to take the reins at the Renzo Barbera.
Mutti has been out of work ever since leaving Bari at the end of the 2010-11 campaign.
