thumbnail Hello,

The controversial duo were seen exchanging words on the pitch and this apparently spilled over to an X-rated disagreement as the teams headed towards their dressing rooms

Craig Bellamy and Joey Barton clashed in an expletive-filled angry tunnel exchange in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over QPR at Anfield on Saturday, according to The Daily Mail.

Neither of the duo tend to be far from controversy and they were seen having an exchange of words on the pitch during the match.

This spilled over to the tunnel after the game, with a series of foul-mouthed exchanges taking place between the pair after Luis Suarez’s header had secured victory for the hosts.

According to the report, Bellamy and Barton traded explicit rants and the rift threatened to become violent before the pair were separated and ushered into their respective dressing rooms.

An ‘eyewitness’  is quoted in the report as saying, “It was more words than anything else."

“Let's just say some of the language they used was only for the ears of the working man. But neither player would have voluntarily backed down. There was a bit of a giggle in the tunnel afterwards given which players were involved.”

While the FA will wait to see referee Lee Mason’s report before making a final decision on whether to investigate the incident, the duo are unlikely to receive any sanctions given there was no physical violence was involved.

Away manager Neil Warnock had tried to brush the on-pitch feud under the carpet when he spoke to the press after the match.
