The England man believes Spurs are ready to go far this term after extending their unbeaten run, while Gareth Bale says he is happy to contribute to an "unbelievable" team

Scott Parker believes Tottenham can challenge for honors this season after an impressive performance saw the team beat QPR 3-1 at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Speaking after Spurs' victory, which moves the club up to fifth and stretches its unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions, the summer signing said the club is ready to be successful.

“We’ve been saying it for a little while now but this squad can go places this year, and if we believe in ourselves we can go far and I’m really looking forward to rest of the season,” Parker told Sky Sports.

Spurs produced a scintillating first half performance against QPR, and Parker was not surprised by the free-flowing game given the caliber of the club’s players.

“When you’re playing with players like Gareth [Bale], Luka [Modric], Rafa [Van der Vaart] and everyone today it’s fantastic to play and winning games is obviously very nice," he said. “We played really good football and at the end there we killed the game off with a great finish from Gareth, which was pleasing.”

Two-goal hero Bale is equally confident the team can continue to improve this season, adding: "The confidence is growing, we didn’t get off to the best of starts to the season but, playing both Manchester teams, you can see why. But we’ve been playing well and gaining confidence."

Bale’s second-half strike sealed the win for Spurs, and the Welshman admits he is happy to be contributing to the team performance.

“It’s just good to get goals and help the team which is the most important thing and getting the three points which was vital because it lifts us back into the top six again,” he said. “It’s always good to get goals but it was a great team performance and in the first half we played some unbelievable stuff. In the second half we didn’t come out the greatest but we finished them off and got the three points.”
