Footie Bookie: March 13-14 Time To Rebound

Enough losing, J.R. Eskilson is here to make you some money.

Iker Casilla- Real Madrid
That was the worst week of this column's young career. The only consolation one can find is that this week is still going better than being a Real Madrid fan (too soon?).

The good news: March Madness starts this week, which is the equivalent of gambling heaven. I am predicting Kansas to win it all. Back on the pitch, this weekend lacks any eye-popping bets, but there are a handful of quality fixtures. The pick of the week is Chelsea.

Last Week: 1-6
Parlay: 0-2

Spain:

Barcelona (DWWLW)-Valencia (DLWDW)

Bet on Barcelona -1 at (-155)
Sunday, March 14, 2:00 PM (ET)

La Liga expert David Mosse, "Barcelona will be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which might be a good thing given his recent form. The Catalan giants are in a bit of a rut, but could be boosted emotionally by Real Madrid's Champions League elimination. Expect Barcelona to pull out a hard-fought victory against a Valencia that was excellent away from home in the first half of the season but has really struggled of late."

Villarreal (DWLWL) at Xerez (WDLLL)
Bet on Villarreal -1.5 at (+105)
Sunday, March 14, 12:00 PM (ET)

"Xerez has played much better under Nestor Gorosito, but Villarreal is tough at home and could be due for a breakout game after its talented front men squandered a number of good opportunities last week against Espanyol. Giuseppe Rossi made his return in that match following a long leave of absence due to the death of his father. Expect Villarreal to pick an important victory in a high-scoring affair." - Mosse

England:

Fulham (DWWDW) at Manchester United (WWLDW)

Bet on over 2.5 goals at (-155)
Sunday, March 14, 9:30 AM (ET)

Fulham have a bit of a winning streak (two games) going against Sir Alex Ferguson's side. United looked unbeatable against Milan during their mid-week game. Fulham looked confused in their mid-week jaunt to Italy. This should still be a hotly contested affair with the final result likely to be 2-1 to the home side.

West Ham (LLWWL) at Chelsea (LWLWD)

Bet on Chelsea -1.5 (-140)
Saturday, March 13, 10:00 AM (ET)

West Ham have played the Blues tight the last two times. All that means is Chelsea are due for a comfortable win at Stamford Bridge. Also, Chelsea have not suffered consecutive defeats at home in league play since 2002. I will trust the home side and African player of the year, Didier Drogba, to take care of the Hammers.

Germany:

Wolfsburg (WWWLL) at Borussia Monchengladbach (LDDWL)

Bet on Wolfsburg PICK at (-130)
Saturday, March 13, 9:30 AM (ET)

Going to let goal.com Bundesliga expert, Steve Streff handle the preview: "M'gladbach are a side struggling at the moment, with just one win in five following their 3-0 pasting at Borussia Dortmund. In comparison, after struggling for much of the season, Wolfsburg has hit a vain of form in recent weeks, having gone without a loss in their last six matches in all competitions. Buoyed by a draw with Rubin Kazan in Russia in the Europa League, Wolfsburg should continue their run with a win away from home."

Cologne (DDLLD) at Mainz 05 (WLDDW)
Bet on Under 2.5 goals at (-150)
Saturday, March 13, 9:30 AM (ET)

"After two stunning performances saw Cologne draw Leverkusen and then Bayern in back to back weeks, Cologne travel to Mainz to take on the ninth place side. Should be a low scoring affair. Cologne is actually better away from home than at their own friendly confines (17 points compared to 10). Cologne have only scored and conceded nine away from home in 12 matches this season, which is rather impressive. Mainz are coming off a strong win at Hoffenheim, and only have one loss at home this year. They don't concede many goals at home, so expect a draw with no more than two goals scored." - Streff

Italy:

Sampdoria (WLDWW) at Bologna (WWLWD)
Bet on Draw at (+210)
Sunday, March 14, 10:00 AM (ET)

Since this is a week made for trend breaking, this is a pick that is going to break a significant streak. The last four matches between these two sides have ended with a victor. It is time for two roughly even sides to end on even terms.

Parlay (all MLs):

Real Madrid, AZ Alkmaar, Bayern Munich, Lyon, Arsenal
