Official: Benfica Appoint Jorge Jesus As Coach
Sporting Braga coach Jorge Jesus has been confirmed as the new boss of Benfica.
The appointment of new coach Jorge Jesus puts an end to weeks of speculation concerning the managerial post at the Estadio da Luz.
American Freddy Adu's future with the club may be settled soon, now that there is a specific person in charge to decide on either retaining him in Portugal or selling him elsewhere.
Jesus takes over from Spaniard Quique Flores, sacked by Benfica earlier this month following a disappointing season at the helm of the club.
He moves to the Lisbon-based club after enjoying success at Sporting Braga, guiding them to the UEFA CUP Round of 16 and a fifth-place finish in the Portuguese league last season.
The former Belenenses boss has agreed to coach Benfica until 2011, with an option in his contract for an additional season according to the club's official website.
