Portuguese Doctor Declares Deco Is Good To Go
The playmaker could make an appearance in the key game for Portugal.
Deco could play for Portugal against Sweden this weekend according to the team doctor, but he also admitted he must be cautious with his return.
The midfielder has been plagued by injury this year and has featured only intermittently for Chelsea because of his problems.
Now, with a key game coming up for Portugal this weekend, there were fears that he could be missing from the line-up.
Henrique Jones, the team doctor, told Record that he has a "good chance" of playing against the Swedes on Saturday evening, though.
"Deco is undergoing his full plan of recovery successfully. In the morning he did work on the pitch, later he will do work with the ball, and on Thursday he should be able to train without any problems," he mused.
Jones went on to comment that "willpower and determination of the player are also important in recuperation" but added "despite the optimism, we should be cautious".
Certainly Portugal could do with having the Chelsea man at their disposal, considering this is a key game for both sides.
With Denmark and Hungary the top two teams in the group at the moment, a loss on Saturday could be devastating for Sweden or Portugal and Deco's return may prove pivotal.
