Mexican Defender Hector Moreno Targets Quick AZ Return
The strong defender has been sidelined since December, but he is nearing his return to match action. He has tentatively suggested a mid-April date for his return.
Mexican centre-back Hector Moreno sustained a foot injury in AZ's 1-0 league win against Feyenoord on December 13 and hasn't played a match since due to the injury.
The 21-year-old is on the verge of returning to full fitness after months on the sidelines and has targeted a return to match action before the end of this campaign.
"My recovery is going very well,” Moreno said to the club’s official website. “My foot has healed perfectly, but I'm not fully match fit yet. I haven't participated in a regular training session for a while. I hope to be able to train with the rest of the lads next week.
"I'm planning a return to match action with the reserves three weeks from now. However, I've to discuss this with coach before making any decisions. Maybe I can return to the first team in the match against NAC on April 10.
"I'm also very happy that the Mexico coach didn't forget me. I got a call-up for the match against Costa Rica, just in case I was fully match fit again. I had to withdraw, of course, but they're thinking about me."
