The World Cup-bound Mexico forward doesn't see a return to Liga MX in the imminent future.
Club America and Chivas have both been mentioned on the rumor mill as possible destinations in recent days, but the 27-year-old former Atlas player is intent on staying in Europe.
“It’s all a lie, I don’t have any contact with anyone and if I had I think (I’d say) thanks a lot, but I don’t want to return to Mexico,” Guardado said on Thuesday just after landing in Mexico City to join up with the national team ahead of the World Cup.
Guarado mentioned he still has two years left on his contract with La Liga’a Valencia and although he seemed uncertain of his future, said that Mexico isn’t in his plans.
The left back will appear at his third World Cup in Brazil and after a poor qualifying campaign personally, stated there is no element of him necessarily having anything to prove.
“It is a different World Cup where I have more experience and (it is about) simply giving whatever I am able, playing or off the field, but there is always healthy competition,” said Guardado.
The Guadalajara native was the first of Mexico’s Europe-based legion to arrive in Mexico City, where the squad is currently preparing for the upcoming friendly matches.
