thumbnail Hello,

The Mexican center back doesn't know if he will stay with the cash-strapped Spanish club past this summer.

Mexican international Hector Moreno is unsure of whether he will remain at Espanyol beyond this summer, with the center back well aware the club may need to sell due to it precarious financial situation.

"We will see what happens in the next (transfer) market and with the World Cup," he told reporters after training Tuesday. "For the time being, I'm giving everything to the team and I'm happy here."

The former Pumas player, however, recognized that "Espanyol needs to sell players at the end of each season" and that he could have been sold in the last transfer window. Moreno was the subject of much speculation last summer, with Cardiff, Swansea and Rubin Kazan all reportedly vying for his signature.

The Mexican has been a rock at the heart of coach Javier Aguirre's defense and is considered a certain starter for El Tri at the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

The center back moved from Pumas in 2007 to join AZ in Holland, then signed with Espanyol in 2011. He was voted the Barcelona-based club's player of the year in his first season in Spain.
