Reports: Ochoa could be off to Liverpool if Valdes departs Barcelona

The Mexican goalkeeper has been outstanding at Ajaccio, and could be making a jump to Liverpool if Barcelona wants Pepe Reina as Victor Valdes' replacement.
The imminent departure of goalkeeper Victor Valdes from Barcelona has unleashed an unlikely chain of events that has historic club Liverpool potentially on the trail of Mexican Guillermo Ochoa, reports out of Europe over the weekend suggest.

Valdes has tired of the daily pressure of playing for what has been the best team in the world over the past few years, and prefers to finish his career elsewhere, his agents told Barcelona last week.

To replace Valdes, Barcelona is said to be interested in acquiring veteran Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina, now at Liverpool.

In turn, the Reds have their eye on Ochoa, whose consistently fantastic performances have single-handedly kept French Ligue One side Ajaccio afloat over the past two seasons. Ochoa passed up several moves last summer to stay in France.

Under this scenario, the goalkeeper would move to England this summer, replacing Reina as the Reds’ starter in net.
