Saturday evening proved to be fruitful for the two Mexican players squaring off in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Real Sociedad.

Jonathan dos Santos was handed his first league start of the season for Barcelona's senior team (he had previously started a Copa del Rey match) and took the opportunity with aplomb. He was one of the game's move active passers from his central midfield position before being replaced by Sergio Busquets in the 76th minute and completed 58 passes in the first half.

For visiting Real Sociedad, Carlos Vela was not handed the start for Philippe Montanier's men, but still managed to make a strong impact as a substitute. After entering as a 58th minute replacement for Diego Ifran, Vela has active, eventually scoring his team's lone goal of the game. He collected an accurate ball from Antoine Griezmann that caught the Barcelona defense out before coolly finishing to pull back a goal immediately after Barcelona had gone 2-0 up through Lionel Messi.

Elsewhere in La Liga, Hector Moreno also played on Saturday, going the full 90 minutes and having a goal ruled out for offside in Espanyol's wild 3-3 draw at Athletic.
