Tottenham forward Giovani dos Santos has been sounded out by Mexican side Club America, but Goal.com understands he is set to turn down the chance to join on loan in January.

The Mexico international has found playing time extremely limited at Spurs since joining the club from Barcelona in 2008, having already been shipped out on loan to Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander.

Dos Santos said he was looking to leave the club last week and claimed he had "lots of offers" lined up for the winter transfer window.

However, it has been revealed a six month loan to Club America is unlikely as he wants to stay in Europe.

"Giovani has no plans to return to Mexico at this time," the source told Goal.com.

Dos Santos' deal at White Hart Lane expires in June 2013.
