Cuauhtemoc Blanco Desperate For Mexican NT Return
The Mexican idol affirmed that he wants to return to the national team in time for next year's World Cup.
Cuauhtemoc Blanco has expressed his desire to return to El Tri so that he can demonstrate his quality in order to warrant a World Cup place.
But the attacking midfielder admitted that he hasn't been in contact with Javier Aguirre, the new Mexican national team coach, but he assured to the press that the coach is aware that he wants to play for his country in the World Cup.
Earlier in the month Blanco declared that he has "a great desire to return" to play for Mexico, a team he defended in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups.
"If Aguirre calls me, I'm ready to go," said the 36-year-old, who in Mexico played for Club America, Necaxa, Veracruz and Santos Laguna.
Another of his objectives is to sign a contract extension with the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer, even if this may decrease his chances of featuring in South Africa with Mexico.
Blanco is hoping that Aguirre will select him in his squad to face Venezuela and Guatemala in friendly matches at the end of June.
As well as this, Blanco announced that at the end of the year he will marry his girlfriend, actress Rossana Najera, and that he is very excited about this.
