Current Mexican National team boss, Sven Goran Eriksson, named his squad that will be facing Costa Rica at the Azteca Stadium on March 28 and Honduras on April 1 for the next official games in the CONCACAF hexagonal stage en route to the South Africa World Cup 2010.

The list includes six players currently playing in Europe, excluding Mexican captain and Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez because of a two match ban for his red card against the United States in a February World Cup qualifying match.

Many players are making their way back onto the national team after recovering from injuries. Goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez of Santos once again returns to the squad after overcoming a shoulder injury that kept him off the list for the game against Bolivia. Midfielder Andres Guardado has been off the pitch for two months due to an injury received while playing with Deportivo La Coruña in a match against Barcelona.

The players will meet on March 23rd and go into a training camp before the qualifiers.

Costa Rica is the only team in history to defeat the Mexican national team in Azteca during CONCACAF qualifying. The Ticos currently claim three points in the standings courtesy of their victory at home in the opening round of qualifying, while Mexico has none, having failed to defeat the U.S. in Columbus, Ohio.
