The Blaugrana coach admitted that he is excited about the tournament in Japan, and assured that he wants to lift the trophy as he gears up for his side's opener against Al Sadd

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has revealed that it took a lot of hard work to get to the Club World Cup, and made it clear that his side are determined to win the tournament.

"We are here because we earned it and now we will work to take the title," the 40-year-old said in his prematch press conference.

The European champions open their campaign in Japan against Al Sadd on Thursday in a semifinal clash, despite questions being asked in the press over the importance of the competition given the Catalan outfit's already congested fixture calendar.

Despite this, the former Spain midfielder has assured that he is looking forward to competing in the tournament and is targeting victory for the second time in his coaching career.

"It's all much more even, anything can happen in a game; we must not take victory for granted," said Guardiola.

"It is the competition I am most excited about this year because we're able to play in it. Getting here has been very complicated, very hard."
