Andujar: Argentina's Pride Is At Stake In World Cup Qualifiers
The shot stopper is proud to be part of his national side.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Catania and Argentina goalkeeper Mariano Andujar has called on his team-mates to give their all when they play their final two World Cup qualifiers over the next 10 days.
"Is the national team's qualification at risk? We can do it, we will give everything against Peru and Uruguay," Andujar told Itasportpress.
"This isn't just about technique, but our pride is at stake - the sense of belonging to our country.
"It's not certain that I'll play. Obviously I hope to start, but if I must be on the bench then I will support us like a madman.
"For me, it's an honour to be there."
The 26-year-old joined Sicilian side Catania from Estudiantes this summer and has recently forced his way into the national reckoning. He will compete for the number 1 shirt against Peru and Uruguay with AZ Alkmaar 'keeper Sergio Romero.
