North Korea Qualify For World Cup With Draw Against Saudi Arabia

A goalless draw against Saudi Arabia secures World Cup qualification for North Korea.

North Korea have qualified for the South Africa 2010 World Cup for the first time since 1966.

Iran's failure to get three points against South Korea earlier today meant that the Chollima only needed a point to advance - which was earned through a goalless draw with Saudi Arabia.

North Korea join will now join their southern namesakes in South Africa next year, both teams coming first and second respectively and leaving Saudi Arabia to battle it out in an AFC play-off against Bahrain.

DPR's Kim Yong-jun was dismissed from the pitch deep in injury-time, but it would not matter as the final whistle was blown soon after.

Elsewhere in the Asian group stages, Japan and Australia make up the other two teams in the four automatic qualifiers for next year's World Cup.
