Laporta: Guardiola Needs Time To Decide On New Barca Contract
The coach can't be pressurized, says the prez.
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola's future is uncertain, but club president Joan Laporta has urged supporters to give the former midfielder time to plot his next move.
Speaking to Barca TV, Laporta said, "Pep needs adequate time to reflect on a decision that is extremely important to one's life.
"He's been in charge for Barcelona's best period... He is aware that he has a responsibility to keep winning.
"Renewing his deal is a vital question in a sporting sense, not a familiar sense, so he neesd to have that conviction that he can carry on picking up victories."
Laporta's words come during a time of change for Barca, during which they must not only come to terms with Pep's contract expiration at the end of the season, but also the conclusion of Laporta's presidential mandate.
