Report: France And USA Both Interested In Tunisia Friendly
The FTF is being solicited by both their French and American counterparts for friendlies during the month of May.
According to Mosaique FM, the Tunisian Football Federation
has been approached by both France and the USA who each would like their national
side to play a friendly match against the Carthage Eagles in Tunis during the
month of May.
The news has emerged a day after it was revealed that Les Bleus will put the finishing touches on their World Cup preparations with a Tunisian based training camp. Federal members from France reportedly arrived in Tunis today to evaluate the available accommodations and training pitches before making their final choice. The date for the proposed friendly against the North Africans is tentatively set for May 30.
The FTF is also in negotiations with the USA for a match that could potentially be played on May 26 at Rades Stadium. The Americans would like to book a friendly against Faouzi Benzarti’s team before the World Cup given that they were drawn in Group C where they will face Algeria.
Meanwhile, Tunisia is still searching for sparring partners to face off against prior to the African Cup of Nations. They are rumoured to be in talks with Mali and Werder Bremen who are both going to be based in the Arab Gulf region during the same time that the Tunisian national team is in Abu Dhabi for their training camp which runs from December 31 to January 7.
Tunisian representatives are also considering a third friendly that will be played in Tunis against the Gambia, Cape Verde, or Oman on January 9 just before their departure for Angola.
