Former Real Madrid Coach Schuster Defends Guti
The midfielder has been omitted from los Merengues' match this weekend, but the German trainer believes that Manuel Pellegrini should make us of his qualities.
Bernd Schuster, who coached Real Madrid for 17 months until his dismissal in December 2008, has defended the under-fire Guti after the midfielder's antics in the Copa del Rey.
Reports suggested that there was a heated argument between Guti and coach Manuel Pellegrini at half time against Alcorcon, rumours which have since been downplayed by both parties.
However, Schuster believes that the episode should be forgotten about as he advises the Chilean coach to exploit the talents of the experienced midfielder.
"He was one of the few who almost always started under me," Schuster told Marca.
"He's different to many other players and he has something that makes him special, which not many players have, but he needs lots of confidence and, if he has that, he helps.
"He helped me a lot - he knows that he has his little problems, but he always looks for the most positive thing for the team."
