Juande Ramos: I Did Not Want To Stay With CSKA Moscow

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss has indicated that he did not want to extend his contract in Russia and was therefore allowed to leave his post immediately.

RPL: Juande Ramos - CSKA
Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow announced the firing of coach Juande Ramos on Monday, and the Spaniard has already commented on the situation.

Many pundits believed that the reason for his dismissal was last weekend's 3-1 league loss against FC Moscow. However, Ramos has now made it clear that there was more to his departure than the unexpected defeat.

"I didn't get the sack because of the loss against FC Moscow. I had told the club that I was not planning to extend my expiring contract, and that's the reason for my dismissal," said Ramos to Marca.

"I did not want to stay in Russia, so they had to find a new coach. The technical director found a replacement who wanted to start the job right away and that was not a problem for me. I'm fine with my departure."

Former Krylia Sovetov coach Leonid Slutsky has been put in charge after Ramos' dismissal, becoming the club's third coach of the campaign after Zico was sacked in September.
