According to Marca, Real Madrid have agreed a fee of €38m plus clauses for Valencia stalwart David Villa.

The in-demand striker, who is also on the radar of Chelsea, will see his fee increase depending on the number of goals that he scores for his new club, should a move go ahead.

Marca led with the story this morning in the wake of Kaka's joining Real Madrid last night in the second most expensive transfer operation of all time.

New club president Florentino Perez, then, shows little sign of slowing down on his spending spree.

Valdano

However, Real Madrid transfer powerbroker Jorge Valdano would not confirm these reports.

Speaking to El Mundo Deportivo, he said, "We are making no considerations on Villa - we're just talking about who we've signed."

Neither club has yet moved to formally deny the report of the agreement, but at the same time there is little sign of confirmation, either.
