Sergio Aguero: It’s Impossible To Win Playing Like This
The striker complained about his club’s recent form and also spoke briefly about his own future, reiterating that he is happy in Madrid.
Sergio Aguero has admitted that if Atletico Madrid keep playing the way they are, they will not win too many games before the season ends.
Los Rojiblancos suffered their second consecutive defeat at the weekend as they were humiliated by Osasuna at home, and they are still five points away from fourth spot.
Aguero told a press conference today that they cannot afford to lose more points and they must focus on their game at the Riazor this weekend.
"Playing like this, it is impossible to win," Marca quotes him as saying. “The club and the fans know we are not playing well. It is our fault and now we have to focus to beat Deportivo La Coruna.
"We have to be strong and we cannot lose anymore points because then we will be out of reach [of the Champions League spots]. With the quality of players we have, we can be in the Champions League. I want this team to be there.
"We have played two bad games and now we have to change."
Certainly, if Atletico are to reach the top four they will have to improve dramatically, and so too will Aguero, who has not been at his best lately.
The Argentine admitted that the team must "train another way, with more happiness", before speaking briefly about his future at the club, which has come under question lately.
"The club will decide whether I stay or not," he explained. “They know that I want to stay here. I would love to continue… but I do not know if the club needs the money.”
