Derby delight?

Could it be fourth time lucky for Atletico? The Rojiblancos have lost out to fierce rivals Real Madrid in each of the last three seasons in the Champions League and now the two teams meets again in the semi-finals. They will never have a better chance of ending their European hoodoo against Los Blancos, says Ben Hayward.

United challenge

Celta Vigo boast a mixed record against English opposition, as they prepare to face Manchester United.

All to play for

Ludovic Giuly graced the Champions League final with Monaco, and he has had his say on his former club drawing Juventus: “We’re in with a chance – over two legs, anything can happen. Juventus are a strong side, very experienced, but we'll be ready for them. In terms of honours, compared to the other teams, we're the only one team out of the four never to have won a European trophy, the furthest we got was the final we lost in 2004 to Porto. So we might be underdogs, but we do have European experience.”

Chomping at the bit

There is plenty for Celta striker John Guidetti to look forward after being drawn against Manchester United, as a former City player and a Swede who could be gracing the final in his homeland.

The perfect final?

Decent arguments to be offered for all four semi-finalists, but only two can make it to Solna...

Twitter reacts

Here's what those on social media have been saying about the Champions League semi-final draw, which has pitched arch-rivals Atletico and Real Madrid into direct competition once again.

Red Devils record

Manchester United's record against Spanish sides in Europe reads: W12 D19 L16

Work to be done, it seems.

Atleti view

A view from the other side of the Madrid divide, from director Clemente Villaverde: “Our fans and players have experienced two final defeats and know what it means and takes to get there – a lot of work. Hopefully we can give the Vicente Calderon the goodbye it deserves.”

7:26 AM EDT

No easy games

A bit more reaction to the earlier Champions League draw, with former Real Madrid forward Emilio Butragueno saying: “We're happy to be just one step away from the final but this is the most difficult tie of all. Atleti are a side who capitalise on your mistakes. They've got quality up top and let in very few goals. We will pay for any errors.”
