The midfielder missed a training session on Monday and was not even named as a substitute in the club's Champions League win over Schalke, though he is expected back on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho refused to elaborate on Eden Hazard's omission from Chelsea's squad on Wednesday but referred to the Belgium international as a child who made a mistake.

Hazard missed a training session on Monday and was subsequently not named in Chelsea's squad for a 3-0 win over Schalke in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge.

When asked about Hazard's situation, Mourinho told beIN Sport: "Children make mistakes. Fathers must be clear in how to educate them."

Despite missing the win over Schalke, which has given Chelsea a three-point cushion at the top of Group E with two games remaining, Mourinho insists Hazard will be included in his squad to face West Brom on Saturday, but did not explain why he missed training.

"Let's forget Eden because I didn't select him," Mourinho told Sky Sports.

"I prefer to say that Willian and Schurrle made fantastic work for us. We have a big squad, we have players with quality, sometimes they are frustrated because they are not first options but the important thing is when they have a chance they do it well.

"On Saturday [against West Brom], he [Hazard] will be with the team. He's a player who is a talent. On Saturday, he will be on the bench or playing."
