The Croatian striker will lead the line for the Bavarian giants ahead of Mario Gomez, while for BVB, Mats Hummels begins in defense after an expected recovery from a minor injury
Mario Mandzukic will start up front for Bayern Munich in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
The 27-year-old forward has beaten off competition from Mario Gomez, who led the line for Juup Heynckes’ men in last season’s showpiece event at the Allianz Arena.
Mandzukic will be supported by Thomas Muller in the hole, who is flanked on either side by Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, while Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinstieger man the center of midfield.
Jerome Boateng has edged out Daniel Van Buyten to partner Dante in the heart of the Bavarians’ defense, with Philipp Lahm and David Alaba rounding out the back four in front of Manuel Neuer.
For Dortmund, Mats Hummels has shaken off an ankle injury picked up in the team's final Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim to begin at the back alongside Neven Subotic, Lukasz Piszczek and Marcel Schmelzer, with Roman Weidenfeller in goal.
Ilkay Gundogan and Sven Bender start in midfield, while Kevin Grosskreutz, as expected, replaces the injured Mario Gotze, with Marco Reus and Jakub Blaszczykowski lining up behind Robert Lewandowski.
Borussia Dortmund (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Gundogan, Bender; Blaszczykowski, Reus, Grosskreutz; Lewandowski
Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Alaba; Martinez, Schweinsteiger; Robben, Müller, Ribery; Mandzukic.
