TEAM NEWS: Messi only fit enough for spot on Barcelona bench

The Blaugrana star will not play from the beginning of the Champions League semifinal against the German champions, after suffering a recurrence of his previous injury
Barcelona's hopes of completing an incredible comeback from 4-0 down against Bayern Munich have been dealt a blow, as it was confirmed that Lionel Messi would not start for the second leg of Wednesday's Champions League semifinal clash.

The Argentine star suffered a recurrence of the injury that had kept him out of contention for a handful of fixtures in April, including the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinal when he started from the bench. Messi will once more have to wait on the sidelines in Camp Nou, with his place filled by Cesc Fabregas.

Sergio Busquets is another casualty of Barca's injury woes and will play not part as Alex Song replaces the defensive midfielder.

Bayern, meanwhile, is without Dante who is suffering from a bout of flu. Daniel Van Buyten enters in the middle of defense alongside Jerome Boateng, while Mario Mandzukic is preferred to Mario Gomez up front.
