Van den Brom delighted to banish 'laughing stock' tag against AC Milan

The former Vitesse boss could not hide his delight with the Belgian outfit's display against the Rossoneri on Tuesday.
John van den Brom has hailed the resolve of his Anderlecht side, after the club drew 0-0 with AC Milan in Tuesday's Champions League encounter at San Siro.

"The tactical plans were carried out very well, a great compliment to the boys. This point is more than well deserved," Van den Brom said after the game.

The Dutchman praised his team for the manner in which it carried out his tactical plan, and was delighted to see the Belgian champions prove themselves against a European heavyweight. United States international Sacha Klestan started and played a full 90 minutes in the match.

"I am proud of the fantastic performance we put on in this match. We searched for a way to be able to battle against Milan, and we found it," Van den Brom said.

He added, "I have underlined the importance of organization and that is what has earned us the point. Before the match we would have definitely settled for the draw.

"We were keen not to become the laughing stock of the Champions League with no points from the 18 available and now we have started by taking one very good point away from here."

Anderlecht's next group game is a home clash with Malaga on October 3.
