Stoke City defender Robert Huth believes that Bayern Munich will prove to be too good for Chelsea in Saturday's Champions League final.
The 27-year-old played for the Blues from 2002 until 2006, but his German roots are stronger than his feelings for his former club as he wants the Bundesliga giant to come out victorious at the Allianz Arena.
"My heart beats for Germany. I support Bayern on Saturday. They have to win it. I think they will beat Chelsea 3-1," Huth said to Goal.com.
"The tie against Barcelona showed that Premier League and Champions League are two completely different competitions. Chelsea were under so much pressure that I never expected them to progress. I think that Bayern are the better team by a slight margin. The games against Real Madrid also showed that. They created a lot of chances in Madrid, and that was quite unexpected.
"The Chelsea players are more aggressive and physically stronger, though. [Didier] Drogba in particular. It will be interesting to see how the Bayern defense cope with him. But I hope that they will be able to deal with him."
Fernando Torres netted Chelsea's equalizer in the 2-2 away draw against Barcelona in the semifinal second leg, but Huth believes that Drogba is the better striker of the two.
"Drogba is the more difficult opponent for a defender. He's not as bad on the ball as some make him out to be, and he's always very determined to make the last step toward the ball without any fear.
"Torres is obviously not a bad option either. He's going through a bit of a difficult period at the moment. Let's just say that the Bayern defense will be happy if Torres starts."
Huth then went on to stress that the English giants have a lot of respect for the Bavarians, and believes the hosts are the favorites.
"The people in England have a lot of respect for Bayern, especially because they're playing at home, even though both sides were awarded equally as many tickets.
"A lot of players saw Bayern's match against Madrid, and what they did in that game was superb. I'm not a Bayern fan, but it was clear to see for a neutral that they put in a great display. Chelsea will definitely not think that it'll be an easy game. I see Bayern as the favorites."
