Marco van Basten believes that AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic can cause Barcelona all sorts of problems in the upcoming Champions League quarterfinal tie between the two clubs.
The Sweden international will revisit Camp Nou for the first time since leaving the Blaugrana after missing Milan's trip to Catalunya in the group stage in September.
His form in the continental competition has been in stark contrast to his Serie A displays, but Van Basten believes that the striker can play a key role against his former club.
"If you can score a lot of goals in Italy, you can do it in the Champions League as well," he told Sky Sport Italia. "Ibra has the quality to make the difference.
"These will be two very important matches, Barcelona are the strongest side in the world and it will be very tough."
The 47-year-old also had kind words for Barca star Lionel Messi, saying that international success is the only thing standing in the way of the Argentine becoming the greatest player in the history of the game.
"Messi is the best player in the world," Van Basten noted. "If he wins a World Cup, he will be the best player ever."
Milan hosts Barcelona on March 28, with the return leg at Camp Nou set for April 3.
