The Netherlands international was full of congratulation for his side, and hopes that the resounding 7-0 win over the Swiss side bodes well for the rest of the competition.
Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben has hailed his side's 7-0 win over Basel in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday as "incredible", but added that he wasn't fully fit for the comprehensive triumph. The Dutch winger scored two goals as Jupp Heynckes' team completely overwhelmed the Swiss visitors, making it 14 goals in a week for the Bavarians after a 7-1 trouncing of Hoffenheim on Saturday.
The former Real Madrid man was quick to lavish praise on the performance, while adding that he had been on medication after feeling ill during the week.
"Seven goals in the Champions League is incredible," the 28-year-old told reporters after the game. "Our last two games have been incredible. We've scored 14 goals. Maybe this will make other teams take notice of us. Maybe it is a bit strange to say, but I wasn't totally fit. I was on antibiotics, because I have a little bit of a cold."
When asked who he would like to face in the quarterfinals, the winger pointed instead to team Bayern would like to avoid.
"Maybe you can say that you don't want to play Barcelona or Real Madrid, but let's see what happens."
