Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis has become the fastest-ever scorer of a Champions League hat trick, following his four-goal display in his side's emphatic 7-1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old was on hand to rescue the French side by netting three crucial goals, the first just before halftime, after his team initially fell behind to a Mateo Kovacic goal.
His hat trick exploits have now earned him the crown of scoring the quickest-ever hat trick in Europe's elite club competition, which was previously held by Mike Newell, who netted three in a nine-minute spell during Blackburn Rovers' Champions League encounter with Rosenborg in 1995.
Valencia attacker Roberto Soldado also made history during the 2011-12 group stage campaign, after he scored the quickest hat trick the competition had overseen since 2003, thanks to his 38 minute salvo against Genk.
