Jose Mourinho: We Were The Best Team By Far Against Chelsea
'Special One' delighted with victory over former club.
By Steve Alexander
Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho claims the best team won after seeing his side record a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to knock his former club out of the Champions League.
A late goal by Samuel Eto'o was enough to win the game on the night making the aggregate score 3-1 and send Inter through to the quarter finals.
It was Mourinho's first return to the Bridge after leaving the club three and a half years ago and the 'Special One' enjoyed beating the club he had so much success at.
"We were the best team by far," Mourinho told Sky Sports. "Chelsea is a great team, we know that and my team came here knowing very well how they play.
"We knew if we did not control the game by having the ball we would have no chance. We had the ball and we created the best chances and we should have scored before the goal."
Inter created several good chances to take the lead but the likes of Eto'o, Diego Milito and Thiago Motta all missed glorious opportunities.
Mourinho admits it did worry him up until Eto'o finally made the breakthrough.
He said: "I was a bit scared when I saw my team lose so many chances.
"When we did score, Chelsea were completely out of the game. I thought everything was superior, not just our tactics but our attitude on the pitch."
