Jesualdo Ferreira: Porto Wasted Chances Against Chelsea

Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira has insisted that the 1-0 Champions League loss to Chelsea could have turned very differently, had the hosts taken their chances.

The Portuguese heavyweights outplayed Carlo Ancelotti's charges in the first-half, and could have drawn first blood but for a tryst with the woodwork.

However, the Londoners came out an organized unit after the break and edged past their opponents thanks to a lone strike from Nicolas Anelka.

"We ended the first half very well but we had a big team in front of us," Ferreira is quoted by Sporting Life as saying.

"The result does not show what we did on the pitch. We had some chances to score but did not take them."

Despite the loss, the Dragao boss explained that there were many positives to take away from the encounter.

"Above all we had a good attitude," he added.

"Porto are not efficient but Chelsea are. Chelsea have worked as a team for a very long time.

"But we have the security of knowing that we have improved."
