Rubin Kazan Boss Berdyev Satisfied With Four Points Off Barcelona

The coach said they tried to hit the champions on the counterattack.

Kurban Berdyev, coach of Rubin
Rubin Kazan coach Kurban Berdyev has declared himself satisfied to have taken four points from "the best team in the world" following their scoreless draw with Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

The Russian champions have kept themselves in contention to emerge from Group F with five points from four games, level with Barcelona and just a point behind leaders Inter.

Berdyev said that his side had hoped to hit Barca with fast counterattacks but he rued their failure to score from some decent openings.

"No one can say four points against Barcelona is bad. We had high hopes, we did not play it forward to [Alexander] Bukharov for tactical reasons in the hope to of attacking with strength at the last minute. This was the case and we had two good chances to score," he said afterward, according to Sport.

Rubin face Dynamo Kiev at home followed by a trip to the San Siro to take on Inter with hope of upsetting either the Italian giants, or the current champions Barca, very much alive.
