Los Angeles Sol Bet To Stay Undefeated

The Women's Professional Soccer team that features star Brazilian Marta has yet to lose a match.

Most teams in Women's Professional Soccer have already seen a share of victory and defeat in the inaugural season, but one of the two squads that has yet to lose, the L.A. Sol, is betting on keeping it that way

Though a defeat is bound to come at some point, the organization is betting that it will not happen on May 10. Fans and the team will celebrate a victory that day with a free ticket to every spectator present to the club's June 3 home game against the Chicago Red Stars.

"We are certainly not guaranteeing a victory on May 10," said Los Angeles Sol General Manager Charlie Naimo. "Instead, we are potentially rewarding those who have decided to share their Mother's Day with us."

On the other side of the WPS spectrum, St. Louis Athletica has yet to win a game.

Yet that squad came the closest to ruining the Sol's perfect record in a hard-fought match last week that ended in a scoreless draw. Both goalkeepers, Karina LeBlanc for the Sol and Hope Solo for Athletica, pulled off heroic saves on penalty kick attempts.

So far in the young season, the Sol is 3-0-1 and sits atop the WPS standings with 10 points.  At home, the Sol boasts a record of only wins (2-0-0) and has yet to be scored on, while outscoring its opponents 3-0.

The Sol isn't just rewarding fans in the event of a win - the club is offering special ticket packages for the Mother's Day match, including one featuring Marta, their star player and leading scorer.
