Women's Professional Soccer Unveils Season Schedule

WPS gears up for its inaugural season by releasing the full 2009 season schedule, including over 70 matches throughout the year.

Women's Professional Soccer has announced the full schedule for its inaugural season in 2009. It includes over 70 regular season games, an All Star match, and three post-season games.

Once a week games will feature in Fox Soccer Channel’s “WPS Sunday on FSC.” Games will be played on weekends, with 14 matches scheduled for weekdays, mostly on Wednesdays.

“The 2009 WPS Inaugural Season will feature world class soccer action from coast-to-coast with regular television coverage and an emphasis on weekend games and occasional Wednesday night action,” said WPS Commissioner Tonya Antonucci. “We hope all fans will come out to catch the world’s best players during the WPS season and follow along on Fox Soccer Channel each week.”

Each team will play 20 games, 10 at home and 10 away. Squads will face each other three times, except for regional rivals, who will face each other four times. The season lasts from March 29 to August 22, with the regular season culminating on August 9.
