CARSON, Calif. - Goal.com was on hand to capture the reaction of the U.S. Women's National Team after they defeated China 1-0 in an exhibition friendly in at the Home Depot Center.

It was Tina Ellertson who scored the winning goal. She was playing forward for the first time in years, since the national team has used her as a defender. She spoke about scoring her goal while holding Mya, her youngest daughter. Mya was the reason why the Women's World Cup veteran wasn't able to participate in the Olympics.

One player who had an excellent Olympics hadn't played with the squad since that time. Amy Rodriguez returned to college after the tournament and only rejoined the team now, but still made a big impact on the match, sending the assist to Ellertson.

In the video, Pia Sundhage discusses the possibility of Ellertson remaining at forward, details what Rodriguez brings to a match and comments on Kiristine Lilly's performance as well.

The queen of caps (341 and counting) also spoke to Goal.com. Kristine Lilly related an anecdote about how the sport greeted her return to the field

"The ball smacked me in the face and I was like, 'Alright, welcome to the game,''. Lilly said.
