Besler confirms Fulham and Sunderland bids

The in-demand U.S. international hopes to have his club future sorted as soon as possible, with a host of European clubs interested.
Matt Besler named Fulham and Sunderland as teams that have bid for him during a radio interview on Wednesday.

“I know that Fulham have put in an offer to Sporting Kansas City,” Besler said to Sports Radio 810 in Kansas City. “I know that Sunderland has put in an offer or is putting in an offer.”

The 27-year-old’s future has been subject to plenty of speculation since turning in an impressive four-game performance at the World Cup. Plenty of clubs across Europe have reportedly shown interest, and now Besler has confirmed recently relegated Fulham and USA teammate Jozy Altidore’s Sunderland as suitors.

The Sporting Kansas City center back also expressed his desire to see his situation resolved expediently.

“It’s a situation which needs to get resolved. I want to be staying in Kansas City if I’m going to stay,” Besler said. “But if they’re going to sell me, then I want to know as soon as possible. It’s not just my decision. It’s the club’s decision if they want to sell or not. But I would definitely have an input on a team.”
